Fashion Color Trends For Fall 2006/2007

New Colours for Fall Winter 2006/7 As fall 2006 settles down, colour fashion trends for fall 2006/7 reveal that warm earthen tones and natural materials gain appeal as women shop for new clothes.

The strongest colours in this palette are golds, reds and violas.

In fall 2006 the colours for apparel are firmly in accord with nature. Traditional earthy tones with sun dried rich ochre and terracotta tones gain ground. Women's clothes the colour of pollen, honey, scorched gold, burnt earth and fox hues, meander amid a few livelier more shocking tones. Expect surprise with the jewel colours of purple and vibrant rich ruby red. Urban charcoal greys are enlivened with splashes of the brighter tones and look new because many materials have glazes. All the images below enlarge.

With both greys and gold tones found in pebbles and stones so currently fashionable, either silver grey or golden metals make a good FW (Fall Winter) 06/07 choice for jewellery or accessory trims. Golden sequins, paillettes and beads, shimmer and glimmer on fabrics that appear to look like molten gold and sheets of liquid glistening glass. Gold is one of the season's hottest looks. I'm sure you will find gold dresses and jackets in every fall range.

For lovers of pinks good news, pink is still around, but it is either warmer becoming more coral/watermelon toned or more powdered and dustier toward heather/lilac.
Warm Earth Tones, Powder Shades & Neutral Whites

Spring and summer saw a move toward natural tones, especially creamy and skin toned buffs or cameo pinks. Fall winter 2006/2007 predictions sees those fashion trend colours merge into earthier and more softened powdered colours. Powdery shades with brownish undertones are used as carob colours are teamed with each other or mixed and layered with old rose or mauve rose pinks. These clothing colours move through the mahogany tonal range and plum pinks. The latter also work well as contrast highlights to grey, charcoal tones and indigo blue dark inky shades. All are strongly acceptable urban colourways. Greys paired with plum pinks create a seemingly fresh fall colour scheme.

Winter white set against black helps keep garments looking peppy and sharp, but many whites are soft and flattering with their creamy cast. White can also be as subtly subdued as a pearl or oyster grey like in tone.

Subdued, more murky and subtle fashion colour combinations of fall 2006/7So the colour forecast is to be prepared for more subdued, more murky and subtle fashion colour combinations such as those shown directly left. fall 2006/7 colour combinations of the latest fashion palette really are the colours of the rustling leaves of a New England Fall.

The powdered soft-tones help create the newness of a more reserved palette. This dusty palette of the fallal woodland floor is sometimes surprisingly livened by dashes or strong vibrant red, mahogany or purple. Metallica fashion looks are important - many colours are over burnished with a metallic cast and the fashion trendsetter will already be garnering more natural dusted earthy tones on their wardrobe rail.

Sometimes because of layering you will see colours that are not shown here as colour mixing takes place on the layered garment. For example a garment with a layer of gold georgette over a blue tone chiffon will create a variation of sea green.

Soft whites and subtle, but rich monochromes with texture on texture are all very strong for fall.

Red comes in every berry hue from cranberry to iron oxide.Along with the shimmer of glistening gold materials, red and purple are both likely to provide the most vital injections of colour.Red gown photographed on the Seine

Red comes in every hue from cranberry to iron oxide. These bursts of colour will be vital to add life to what is a fairly subdued murky palette with a great deal of monochrome grey schemes.

Even so all the colours of fall are more muted than in previous recent season.

When I was in Paris, earlier this summer, this glorious red gown right was being photographed on the Seine at a photo shoot. I could not resist snapping the wonderful dress back myself. This gown says top fall colour for 2006/7.Purple provides a vital injection of colour.

These rich colours of ruby, purple, gold and green tones means a higher demand for colour coordinating gemstones. Rubies, red and rust garnets, amethyst, tanzanite, citrine, Peridot, emerald, and tourmaline are all jewels which pick up the tones of fall beautifully.

Grey and charcoal ranges from pale grey to blue grey and deep blue to darker shades.Blue grey and deep blue to darker shades are a change from the earth tones of much of the palette. Grey and charcoal ranges from pale grey to blue grey and deep ultramarine blue to darker shades.

Makeup Trends - Fall/Winter 2006 2007

Since nobody is perfect, we all have what we consider either minor or major flaws we'd rather not have. Surgery is not your only option to achieve the look you want. Makeup is indeed the best and cheapest way to camouflage imperfections and cover flaws.

Fall and winter fashion trends carry over into makeup to bring a whole new concept to grab attention. Put away your lovely pastels for summer. Cosmetic companies are bringing a burst of vibrant colors and dark earth tones. Shimmer shades are on the way out with mattes taking precedence. Forget overall bronze and place it only sparingly in strategic places.

For a fresh, trendy look, military green and dark plumb shadows compliment almost any skin tone while models are showing smudgy, smoky eyes accented with blue and charcoal -- in lieu of the basic frosts and shimmers we're used to seeing. Blending is the trick for slept-in, sexy bedroom eyes.

Eyeliner applied from the middle of the upper eyelids extending just past the outer corners bring back the classic, "cat-eye" look. Paris Hilton looks sexy and mature in pictures with this method. Basic black opens up the eyes while green and teal look trendy, yet sophisticated.

Bold lipstick is needed to balance strong colors. Don't make a fuss with matching shades too closely. Simply choose from same-color families and apply lip gloss as a final touch for eye-catching attraction.

Technique is important when applying makeup. Today's trend is au-natural but there is a lot of definition for the eyes, lips and cheeks. Common mistakes include poor lighting and not choosing the proper colors for your skin tone. Avoid shimmer and frosted makeup if you have some fine lines and wrinkles to hide. Add a hint of good old-fashioned rouge for a healthy, youthful glow.

Update your wardrobe on Budget for Fall Season

Don't have a fortune to spend on new clothes don't worry, just follow these tips

Blousy over Lean- The basic silhouette for fall has evolved into new proportions. We’ve been seeing it since spring with the amazing impact of skinny leg jeans and that leaner, narrow lower body proportion complimenting billowy, longer tops is a key trend moving forward. Think of this fall’s fashion evolution as less structure, more drape than in previous seasons.

Find something lean as a core wardrobe staple—whether perfect slim black pants, comfy leggings, a pencil skirt, or all three! You’ll then have the must-have, live-in basics to anchor your fall wardrobe in style.

Elegant volume- is what you want on top. It’s NEVER clingy and bare, but a beautiful, glamorous, drape of fabric that spotlights your figure without exposing too much. A jersey knit tunic to casually expose a drop shoulder, or a big V-neck boyfriend sweater, or comfy grandpa knit with a tiered cami underneath—these modern tunics are more like shrunken dresses than boho ethnic. Even pea jackets and balmacaan coats have a certain voluminous flair.

When skinny is not your thing, try a new pair of Greta Garbo wide leg trousers with oodles of old Hollywood allure. Instead of looking dumpy in something this wide, continue the glam feel with a pair of towering platform shoes.

Fall is the season where the new shoe silhouette rocks. Peep toe flats are another truly fresh fashion option, but if you buy only one pair of shoes, a platform shoe is the absolute fashion must-have. For all you tired of complaining about teetering on stilettos, just imagine how comfy and statuesque platforms are and how wonderfully chic and practical it is to finally see the demise of the bare leg. Say hallelujah to chilly legs and build a wardrobe of tights and socks that compliment fall’s chunkier footwear and cute flats.

The colors grey, red, mottled gold, and a spot of leopard are fall’s perfect accents, so why not add something knit to your wardrobe in one of these hot fashion colors? Everyday is sweater weather this season, particularly when you creatively layer up your knits in a way that marks your personal style.

There are a few one season wonders that you’ll love now and want to leave later, but don’t ditch the trend, get a cheapy fast fashion version that adds pizzazz to your wardrobe, but doesn’t make you cry to pass on down the road.

Bubble skirts- the big, bell-shaped bubble hemmed skirt or party dress is so hot for fall and it finally looks so right again that you won’t be able to resist it’s certain feminine charm. But how many times do you really want to wear something this obvious? Just like with the Christian LaCroix once revolutionary version years ago, the bubble can burst pretty quickly. Cute for a few wearings only, an entire wardrobe this silhouette will never make. Wanna keep this trend strong a bit longer? Go for a gentle curve and avoid an extreme silhouette.

Oversized layers- everybody loves to have a second helping here and there, but you know that you’ve buried in layers when the day you decide to wear a skinny sweater, you get praised for dropping 10 pounds. Big layers are fun when they’re done right and you’re thin to begin with, but an excess of fabric looks like a fashion faux pas in hindsight. Add longevity to this trend by keeping to one full, drapy layer and balanced with something more figure-flattering rather than being swarthed in yards of fabric.

Capes- like the poncho trend a few seasons back, the big, floaty top layer has a certain amount of counter-culture chicness, and a little capelet looks so cute. But we can bet that once the cape trend capitulates, Mary Poppins’ throwaways will be lingering on sale racks for some time. Wear this fashion fad with an expiration date in mind. But don’t despair-- there are so many brilliant fashion choices for fall and winter, that it will be very hard to go wrong.

Hopefully these tips will help.

Fall Fashion Trends - Casual Wear

As the weather cools down for the Fall and winter season in 2006, women’s fashion turns to new hues, combinations, and patterns in clothing designs. This year we can expect the usual assortment of browns, naturals, and earth tones but the season’s ‘new black’ is ruby red and a vibrant violet. Pair these with blacks, browns, and greys for a complete fall look.

Gold continues to make its way in jewelry and accessories, but this year in an understated and matte finish. Look for rust, khaki, and shades of mustard in scarves and hats, and some subtle silver and white shades perfect for layering.

Fall’s strongest colors will be ruby red and a range of shades in violet. Ruby red tones include cranberry, and vibrant bursts of red in contrast to black and grey. Violet and purple run the gamut from deep and dark to light, bordering on pastel. Paired with charcoal grey, this makes a great fall emergence in as early as mid-September.

Wardrobe must-haves this fall season include layers, short tailored jackets, silhouette dresses, and boyish styles in pants and vests. Back-to-school inspirations continue to reign in vests, jackets, and corduroy pants; finish the look with volume collars and sleeves to catch the trend.

Grey and black are great in plaid, argyle, and straight cuts in cardigans, cropped jackets, and ¾ length duster coats. This year the belted look of duster coats in poplin to cable sweaters makes a debut, paired with tunic-style pants and tops. Oversized silver and gold buckle belts help accessorize and polish off many of the darker-toned looks.

Suits and professional attire for women will continue with tailored suits, one-piece trouser suits, and oversized collars. This year we’ll also find fur trims and the introduction of oversized balloon-style sleeves . These will work well with fitted hip-hugging pants and legging-style trousers. Skirts range in size, but the ‘mini’ is out for good this year; instead, try longer styles from mid-calf to knee length, as well as velvet patterns and ruffles.

Finally, short dresses have made a comeback with military-inspired colors and wide waist-cinching belts Layering some of the lighter-fabric dresses with leggings is a standing trend, and may encourage more short-skirt enthusiasts.

This year’s alternative looks include Japanese-trend inspirations such as the Harajaku Girls accessories, as well as oversized bags, studs, and ‘Rocker Chick’ casual wear in t-shirts, grunge looks, and vintage pants.

2007 Fall Sweater Trends

Women's sweaters for this Fall come in a variety of styles and shades of color. Sweaters can be worn for many different occasions from lightly colored causal gatherings to darker and more formal functions. The cashmere sweaters in different styles and colors from pastel toned cardigans, dark v-necks and earth colored turtlenecks to argyle styled vests are popular among designers. Cashmere is a delicate, soft fabric made from the wool of mountain goats and is very warm without bulk.

Another style, which will be popular in 2006, is sweater vests. They are sleeveless sweaters worn over casual shirts in cool weather. These vests may be made of cotton, wool, or a mixture of man made and natural material, and in various prints and colors.
Also cardigan sweaters, which are made in different shades of color and have zippers or buttons in the front, will be in fashion. There are different styles of cardigan varying from cashmere to cotton, and in different stitch types like Aran (Irish) knit.

Colors

The colors popular in sweaters for fall are very dark and neutral. Black is always in, dominated the runways by far from other colors. Brown known this season as Italian plum is still big. You will also see a touch of garnet, spicy orange and purple drab. The color that tops all and is a must have for the season is deep cobalt, otherwise known as navy. Navy is being paired with all of the above including brown. You will see navy sweaters with brown skirts. Black dominated but had a touch of one of the colors above added to the outfit. There was plenty of play with different shades of black; it is not just solid black this season.

Also this fall wool knitwear which is hand-made cashmere, mohair and angora threads, often matched with light and impalpable fabrics like organza is popular.

Top Ten Fashion Trends - Fall 2007

Late summer the stress begins. What do I need to buy for fall and what can I continue to wear that I already own? Most importantly, which trends do I know won't work on me and which ones can I embrace openly? Everywhere you turn, there are conflicting reports on the new "it" trends of the season. Fortunately, I love culling the fall fashions as much as I do breathing, so I have done the research for you.

The color scheme for Fall '06-'07 is a little murky, and by that I mean the color pallet. Black is back as is brown, gray, moss, navy and white. There are punches of color like red and deep yellow. Metallic is still hot, but in smaller doses, so opt for either shoes, a belt or a handbag and make it gold.

1. Layering

Notice a trend in oversized clothing? Thanks in part to Marc Jacobs, sweaters, jackets, pants, shorts and shirts have become larger. They have also become longer for a leaner silhouette.

2. Sweater Knits

There are many choices on the knitwear fornt: chunky sweaters worn with feminine dresses, knitwear skirts, oversized sweaters, sweater dresses and knit tunics over skinny leg jeans or leggings. You know your body, if chunky knits make you look...chunky, then opt for the finer gage knits or try a knit dress.

3. Menswear Inspired Prints

Plaids, pinstripes, houndstooth are huge this fall. You may notice that the scale of the print is huge as well. Do NOT wear prints from head-to-toe and consider choosing less tailored and more feminine pieces.

4. Boots and Booties

Tall boots are big again this year and look best with skirts and dresses. However, you may notice that the bootie is making a comeback. Best worn with skinny leg jeans and drainpipe trousers, be careful not to wear them with skirts unless you have terrific gams and are under the age of 30. Don't be afraid of color, make a statement with your footwear.

5. Skinny Jeans and Pants

The skinny jean made its debut last year, but is still hot for Fall '06-07. The darker, the better.

6. Leggings and Tights

Leggings and patterned tights are wonderful with dresses and tunics. Be careful, because this is a hard trend to pull off. First, if you are going to try leggings, make sure they are black. If you are over the age of 25 do NOT wear leggings with a skirt or you will look like you stepped right out of the movie "Flashdance."

7. Dresses and Tunics

Dresses are carrying over from spring and I couldn't be happier. For one, it's easy ...all you have to do is toss on a dress and you are ready for anything. For another, the choices are infinite. From feminine silks to wrap dresses to knit tunics to loose jersey styles to kimonos, the dress is it.

8. Black and Gold

Black bags with gold chains, black suede boots with patent leather and gold buckles, big gold chains, gold earrings. Think early 90's (without the bad hair).

9. Red Accents

Chose red for a punch of color. Red lipstick, red belts, red shoes and boots, red handbags...just don't wear them all at the same time. Remember the goal is not to be matchy matchy.

10. Belts

Wide belts were shown by most of the designers on the fall runway. Belts were over dresses, coats and suits. Look for obis, wrap styles and wide leather belts. Choose bright colors, gold and leopard prints. The belt is best worn at the waist or right under the breast bone, not at the hip.

What to wear to office - Fall Season

Whether you're in New York City, Nashville, or Napa Valley, it's time to shop for:
1) A more style-conscious office wardrobe (in other words: forget about "casual Friday" attire!).
2) Polished Pantsuits (hint: Grandma's pink polyester pant outfit is NOT chic for fall).
3) Accessories with an attitude (it's the return of the beloved belt!).
4) Sleek but sexy evening attire (those oversized flower fabrics have vanished - and not a minute too soon)/.
5) Practical purses with personality (yes, Virginia, you can toss that oversized handbag that you secretly loathed!).

More details on how to have an Awesome Autumn Attitude:
1) A more style-conscious office wardrobe:

The good news: a comfort-conscious version of classic office attire is in for fall.
The bad news: if you tend to wear "casual Friday" styles from Monday through TGIF Day, be aware that "comfort" is NOT defined as baggy jeans and worn-out tennis shoes.
Fall 2006's work-right look calls for sleek linen pants, crispy cut blouses, and low-heeled shoes. Skirts with matching jackets definitely belong in your wardrobe in subtle shades of blue, green, and - if it's right for your skin tone - power red.

2) Polished Pantsuits:

Much as we love Great-Aunt Myrtle and Grandma Rose, we cannot pretend that their polyester pink pantsuits with lace colors are chic for fall 2006.
What IS very much in vogue: the old-fashioned pantsuit upgraded to new-fashioned styles. Whether you love oversized jackets that match loosely flowing pants or wasp-waist versions with sleekly clinging slacks, the 2006 fall incarnation of the classic model offers lets you choose what suits you. Look for a rainbow of hues as well (and apologies to Grandma, but Pepto-Bismol pink is not among the options!).

3) Accessories with an attitude:

Belt believers, rejoice: sassy sashes are swashbuckling their way into style for fall 2006! Look for slimmer lines that flatter your waistline.
Clinging to your ultra-wide belts from 2005? Love the low, almost-sliding-off-your-hips look? Not this season (but we hear whispers that just maybe, for spring 2007....).

4) Sleek but sexy evening attire:

The basic black dress takes on a new angle (literally!) with a one-shoulder strap chic. Feel like an old-fashioned vamp at a cocktail party by dressing it up with a simple gold necklace or silver filigree earrings.
Just doesn't feel like your style? Try a plum or russset-colored evening dress with a classic neckline. Add matching heels, and you're ready for a glorious night on the town!

7 Top Fashion Tips

1. What you wear under your clothes is just as important as the clothes you wear. Bras or panties that are too small or tight will create bulges; as well, underwear that is worn out will not give correct amount of support creating a sagging look. To look fabulous on the outside you have to wear the right undergarments.

2. Don’t draw attention to an asset if it exposes a bad one. For example, if you have a small waist and large hips you might like to wear belts to show off your tiny waist. A belt will draw attention to the difference between your waist and hips and make your hips appear larger. A better solution is to wear shaped tops that flow over the waist.

3. When you update your wardrobe at the beginning of a season have needed repairs done on your shoes. Also, remove clothes from your closet need mending or altering and get them ready for the coming season.

4. Thin fabrics like crepe, linen or wool jersey fall better and are more slimming than wool tweed or suede.

5. Don’t shop for an outfit the same day to have to wear it to an important event. You could end up with an outfit that just does not work and I don’t need to tell you the stress shopping at the last minute or ending up with the wrong outfit will cause.

6. Proceed with caution when you choose a top, skirt or dress that is made from a clingy material. Stretchy, lyrca materials that are too tight will show bulges and bumps that can be easily hidden in a similar top, skirt or dress made from a heavier, different type knit.

7. A cardigan can be worn in place of a jacket if it looks great. A great cardigan fits well and keeps its shape. Don’t wear cardigans to work that are stretched, or just plain worn out.
