How To Have a Fabulous and Memorable Prom Night

Your class will get together and have a good time. It is a time when you realize that you are leaving high school behind and are growing up and becoming a young adult. It is a time for graduating seniors to make a great memory and here are some ideas to have a fabulous and memorable prom night:

1. Create a prom scrapbook. Fill a binder with mementos such as the price tag from your dress, your corsage, your ticket stubs— anything that has to do with prom night. Then decorate the outside of the scrapbook with a collage of your favorite prom pictures. Theme the scrapbook with the same theme as your prom.

2. Be organized with your prom planning. Have a checklist of everything you need to get done for prom including your dress, activities before and after and who you are going with. Also, plan your pre-dance dinner if needed well ahead of time. Prom night is a popular night for local restaurants, so reserve a table for you and your date at least a month prior to the event.

3. Be sure to rest before the big night. Having fun on prom night will use up a lot of energy. You will be stressed from all the preparations and with all the dancing you will be doing, you need to make sure that you get a good night’s sleep before prom and maybe even take a nap the day of prom. If you talked your parents into extending curfew on prom night, you will need all the sleep you can get beforehand. Believe me you will have more fun if you are not dead tired.

4. Most students find the prom a lot more fun if they go in a group. Couples can share a car, and several cars can go together and arrive at the dance at the same time. Or super size your prom ride by renting a minibus. Pass around a list and recruit your group. A ride this size costs less than a limo does per person. You will all arrive together and you can all sit together at the same table and enjoy each other's company all evening. Remember that the earlier you arrive, the better your chances will be of finding an empty table where you can all sit together.

5. You may want to get together at one person's house to take group pictures and have hors d'oeuvres. Throw kind of a pre-prom “mocktail party” with virgin drinks. This gives everyone an opportunity to get a good start on the evening. It will also give parents a chance to make a fuss over all of you and take as many pictures as they want. They will probably be having as much fun as you are.

6. Buy a bunch of one time use cameras and pass them around to your friends. Set a goal to use every last picture before the night is through. Hopefully, you will want to remember this night forever and this way you will get plenty of candid shots.

7. Dance away the night. Don’t be a wall flower on prom night. Get up and dance! If you don’t want to slow dance with your prom date, don’t let that stop you from having fun. Pull your friends onto the floor and dance in a circle.

8. Sometimes students don't spend much time at the dance, but just show up for pictures and leave. These are the ones that really miss out on the fun. This may be the last time you will be seeing a lot of the people you have spent the last four years of high school with. It may be the biggest party you will ever attend where you know so many people in attendance. Enjoy it and have a great time! You'll remember it when you look back years later, and it will be a good memory.

9. Take care of your belongings. Don't leave valuables on the table or in bathrooms. Even if you think you know everyone at the dance, it would be very sad to lose a camera or your money just because you were careless and left it sitting around unattended.

10. After prom is over, be playful and have fun. Some suggestions: After prom, go bowling or to a late-night arcade. There’s nothing like friendly competition to really get everyone laughing. Or go to a late night diner all dressed up and order fries and a milk shake; it’ll hit the spot and you’ll get lots of attention. You can even gather in a friend’s house or backyard or on the beach, take your shoes off, turn up the music and really dance. Even the most ordinary things become more fun when you’re dressed up! You’re only in high school once. You might as well enjoy your night and make it last as long as you can.

Prom is a wonderful way to celebrate with your class but please don’t make choices on prom night that you will regret later. Don’t drink or use drugs as both impair your judgment, can hurt you and are illegal. You want this to be a night you can remember in a good way not a bad one.

Prom Dresses Care Tips

Are you afraid that you’re going to wrinkle your dress? Have a stain that you don’t know how to remove? Well here are some great tips that will help you with all of your questions or problems. Just remember to always follow the general rules for stain removal.

- Dry Cleaning can extend the life of a garment. Proper handling and cleaning of your dress will have the following benefits:

* Your dress will maintain a fresh appearance longer
* Color fading will be minimized
* The useful life of fabric will be extended, making your purchase last longer.

If you get a stain on your dress, deal with the stain as soon as possible. The longer you wait the more time the stain has to soak in and/or dry, making it more difficult to remove. Identify what caused the stain. In order to know what to do for the stain you need to know what caused it. Immediately take your dress to the dry cleaner.

Stains

- All purpose stain removal:

* Club soda

* 4. Follow the manufacturer's care instructions for the garment
* 5. Rinse stain-removal products from garment before placing in washing machine.
* 6. Never dry or iron a stained garment until the stain is removed
* 7. Don't rub the stain. Blot or scrape the stain to prevent further penetration

How to buy Prom Dresses - Tips

Proms are such big part of any young girl’s social life. That is why buying the perfect prom dress is on every young woman’s wish list.

When buying prom dresses, it is important to shop for quality, style, and affordability. Here are some tips when buying prom dresses at a discounted rate.

First, shop early to beat other shoppers from getting the best prom dresses at the cheapest price. Remember to shop when you are not harassed, tired, or hungry since this may affect your mood and disposition while in search for that perfect dress.

Second, make sure that you have measured yourself carefully. Keep your bust, hip, and waist measurements handy. Check the size charts prior to ordering that prom dress. Do not buy a tight fitting or loose dress thinking that you will either lose or gain weight at once. It is wise to shop for a properly fitting prom dress to save you time and money in the long run.

Third, choose a style and silhouette that flatters your curves. Also be picky on the color of the dress you choose. Make sure it suits your own color and preference. You may opt for a dress that comes in your favorite color.

Fourth, be comfortable and confident with your decision since dresses sold on sale are rarely returnable. Smile while trying on that dress and remember to buy shoes and bags that complement your prom dress. Picture yourself on the night of the prom wearing that perfect dress. Savor the moment and think of how memorable the evening might be with the man of your dreams admiring the dress you picked yourself.

Enjoy your purchase and regale your friends on how you came across that perfect dress on sale.

Guide to Buying Prom Dresses Online

What does prom night specifically mean? Is there a precise history of prom night?

The Meaning of Prom Nights

Teenagers see the prom nights in different perspectives. For some, the prom night is one formal dance celebrated in a hotel or in the school’s gymnasium. The usual fancy scenario is there is a hired DJ who keeps playing various genres of music apt for the occasion and there is the sumptuous banquet. Both the juniors and the seniors are clad in their most fabulous prom dresses dancing all throughout the night.

For some of the girls who are fond of fantasizing, they see the prom night as their chance of becoming Cinderella. This dream is further emphasized by the hippy hairstyles and chic formal gowns they are adorned with.

Some folks will settle with the fact though that the prom night signals the coming to age of a teenager into a young woman. They see the prom night as a transition of the childish acts exemplified during the high school life into that of early maturity that goes along with adulthood.

Whatever the connotation of the prom night brings to every different individual, the point is it is one of the rare chances to be under the limelight. Therefore, the occasion requires apt preparations. For the girls, the prom dress calls for a careful planning and conceptualization.

Purchasing Prom Dresses Online

Going online for your prom dress shopping is relatively easier than going to boutiques or department stores. It is also an avenue of getting a clear look at a widespread variety of clothes from numerous sites. Prom dresses online are also cheaper than those offered in traditional shopping malls.

If what you are after for are prom dresses in discounted rates, prom dresses online come in a wide array of choices. If you prefer buying designer prom dresses, then you can always take your pick. Simply browse through a lot of websites and get the chance to buy conveniently with just a click of a button.

The Prom Dress Online Pointers

In what design and style do you want your prom dress to be? What fabric will be used? What color will the cloth be? Which shoes and bag can match it? What accessories will you make use of? These are the basic considerations which need to be taken seriously.

First of all, take into consideration your body type. Is your body figure curvy? Is it straight? Are you plump? The prom dress you must use should complement the figure you possess instead of making it appear worse. You must pay attention to the proper prom dress that will flatter your body figure.

The color of your prom dress also needs special attention. You should get a prom dress with a fabric that goes in harmony with your complexion and hair color. Of course, the accessories which you must use should be appropriate to the style of your prom dress. Having no accessories on the prom dress may look like a very dull-looking Christmas tree but being over decorated is also not good to look at.

Purchasing prom dresses online is a lot of fun. Wherever you are, you can access the websites that sell prom dresses. You are also relieved of the painstaking burden of going from one boutique to another. Believe it, the perfect gown for you is just in the midst of online shopping!

Tips for having Safe Prom for Parents and Teens

Tips For Parents

Know and discuss the School code of conduct before the prom with your child.

Does the school code of conduct extend to off-site functions that have been approved by the school?

Know who your child is attending the prom with and discuss the events for pre and post prom parties with other parents.

Discuss the dangers of drinking and driving. New York State law mandates arrest and license revocation/suspension of any person under twenty-one with .02% or more Blood Alcohol Content (one drink!).

Talk with your child about the dangers of club drugs, warning signs and who to notify for assistance.

Pre-plan and role-play answers that your child can use to get out of uncomfortable situations (e.g. offered alcohol, getting a ride from an intoxicated driver, unwanted sexual advances, etc.)

Discuss guidelines and a curfew. Discuss the consequences of violating these rules.

Discuss travel plans, use a reputable limousine service that will not allow a person to bring, serve or introduce alcohol into the vehicle.

Know who is driving to the prom and who will be a passenger. Limit the number of passengers to increase safety and reduce driver distractions.

Know the location of post prom parties and who is sponsoring them.

Talk to your teenager about the serious dangers and consequences of underage drinking and driving.

If your child's plans change, confirm the change with the parents of other children.

Remind your child that you are there for them if they need a ride home or to an after prom affair.

Tips For Teens

Alcohol is illegal for persons under the age of twenty-one. Underage drinking is illegal and can result in arrest, injury, or worse!

Don't let friends drink and drive.

Plan ahead - make sure you have a safe plan for prom night.

Discuss your plans with your friends, remind each other about responsible decision-making and confronting peer pressure.

Do not accept any drinks from someone you do not know. If you leave your drink, discard it and get a new one.

Do not leave your possessions unattended.

Learn the warning signs for alcohol poisoning and drug intoxication, contact 911 for assistance and immediate treatment.

Take extra money or have a responsible person available for transportation for a safe ride home or in case an emergency arises.

Remember to charge your cell phone and have it with you.

Know where you are and where you are going, keep your parents and friends informed.

Trust your instincts. If you feel endangered or uncomfortable, leave immediately.

Intoxication by alcohol or drugs can lead to poor judgment and dangerous situations.

Remember to contact your parents if your plans change.

Practice and discuss answers you can use to get out of uncomfortable situations.

Do not allow anyone in your car or limo that has drugs or weapons. It is dangerous and every one in the car is at risk of getting arrested.

It is illegal to alter your drivers' license or any other form of government identification.

Prom Do's and Don't

Sure, sure, you make your own rules. But there's a world of difference between following your own path and just being a total slob! Here's the least you should (and shouldn't) do on prom night.

Do Nix the Prom Drama
So what if your high school nemesis shows up in the same dress as you? And who cares if your biggest rival is talking behind your back? Not you. No fits, fights, or freak-outs allowed at the prom. If someone's trying to rile you up, skip the drama queen act. Prom's a night for everyone to just have fun, so just ignore anyone who's trying to stop you.

Don't Wait to Ask Your Date
This goes for guys and girls: If you have even the slightest idea who you want to ask, just go for it. When the prom's looming in the near future, that hottie you've got your eye on is going to be snatched up faster than a pair of designer shoes on clearance. Even if the answer is no, at least you'll know -- and you can come up with a Plan B so you won't be left dateless the night before the prom.

Do Be a Great Date
He may not be your idea of Prince Charming, but he's still your prom date. No matter what your romantic status is, don't leave him hanging by dancing with other people all night or spending all your time gossiping with the girls.

Don't Primp in Public
No doubt a night of partying will require some modest touch-ups -- reapplying lipstick, cleaning up mascara, and fixing your hairdo. But there's a thin line between touching up and giving an overhaul. Take it to the bathroom, but don't spend the whole night there. Prom is about having a great time with your friends (and by your friends, we don't mean Estee Lauder and Paul Mitchell!).

Do Bring Cash
Just because your date promised to pick up the tab doesn't means you should skip the ATM -- you never know when you'll have to chip in. And then there are the random expenses like gum or late-night snacks -- you don't want to have to ask your date to cover every little expense.

Don't Forget Your Manners
If you don't know the dinner drill, here's a basic primer. Guys, let your date pick her seat first and order first. Ladies, place your dinner napkin in your lap and keep those elbows off of the table! If you're confused about the silverware, here's the rule of thumb: Start from the outside and work your way in. The outer fork is usually for the salad, while the inner fork is used for the main course.

Do Be Polite to Parents
You don't want to spend all night with them (you may not want to spend 15 minutes with them), but you'll still want to pay special attention to your date's parents. After all, it's a big night for their little boy or girl (sob!). Greet them politely and shake hands with every member of the family. Don't roll your eyes or get impatient if they want to take one picture too many. Remember, lame as it seems, parents totally live for this stuff!

Do Have Fun!
With so much time spent prepping for the prom, you might have forgotten -- prom is actually just one big party. Don't let stress or nerves get in the way of a great time.

But Don't Go Crazy
You want your killer dress to be the talk of the school -- not your drunken antics. So even though prom might seem like the right time to do something really wild, don't leave your judgment at home. You want prom to be memorable, but in a good way.

Selecting Best Prom Dresses

Prom night is the most exciting night of high school life-and the most looked forward to. It is the night for dressing up in your best attire and creating an impression that would last as long as your childhood memories. Dressing up for the prom night is every girl's dream.

Prom dresses are generally formal party gowns, long and delicately stunning. Prom dresses may be based on the theme of the party or they can just be traditional ball gowns. There is no conventional way to define the “best prom dress”. It is the one that would make you feel beautiful and convey the right image-sweet, innocent, sexy or simply stunning. The most popular prom dresses are satin, sequined, vintage fashions, the little black dress, the asymmetrical hem dress, the hanky hem and the classic Cinderella ball gown.

Prom dresses can be bought directly from retail stores or they can be painstakingly and lovingly designed for the best effect. Since it is the last formal occasion in school, most people would not hesitate to spend a bit more on the prom dress. Prom dresses can also be designed professionally to suit the exact body type and measurements. It is very important that the dress fits perfectly. For achieving this, get the exact measurements of your body, especially the bust, waist and hips. You don't have to be a perfect size 10 to look beautiful. There is a dress available for every body from A-type to hourglass.

Color plays a part in the big night, too. Find one that compliments your coloring choosing from slimming muted shades like deep gray, wine, forest green, burgundy, midnight blue and cocoa or choose neutral colors like silver, black, gray, beige, gold and taupe for a flattering look. Long straight cuts and vertical patterns also make the wearer look slim and sexy. The material should skim the body. Clingy material accentuates fuller figures. Also pay attention to accessories since they complete your look.
